As the major supermarkets announce billion-dollar profits, Riverina growers and makers are charting their own path – opening farm gates to city visitors and creating new ways to keep local food affordable.
Wagga based ready-meal manufacturers and owners of Farm Door Riverina, Frank Coorey and Zoe Lamont, stopped supplying their locally made meals to supermarkets in November 2024 and, for the first time since pre-COVID, recorded profitable months in early 2025.

Did you know the Riverina is known as the 'Food Bowl of Australia'? It’s one of Australia’s most productive and diverse agricultural regions. The Riverina grows over 25% of NSW’s fruit and veggies, 90% of its citrus, and 80% of its wine grapes! It’s pretty delicious to live in a food bowl!
